Fragrant, hardy perennial - Nepeta faassenii 'Six Hills Giant'
Nepeta faassenii 'Six Hills Giant', also known as catmint, is a fast-growing, easy-care perennial that provides long-lasting blooms from June to September with its delicate lilac-blue flowers. Its silvery-green, aromatic foliage adds a Mediterranean touch to the garden and attracts numerous bees and butterflies, making it a valuable plant for natural gardens.
The name "catnip" comes from the plant's special attraction to cats, which react to the active ingredient nepetalactone. This essential oil has a euphoric effect on many cats, while the plant itself remains completely non-toxic.
Nepeta 'Six Hills Giant' is hardy and thrives best in full sun in well-drained, rather dry soil. It is ideal for flower beds, rock gardens or as a ground cover and impresses with its spreading growth. Pruning after the first flowering promotes a second flowering in late summer and keeps the plant compact.
