The Spiky Spiral Staircase - The Prickly Fat Caterpillar
OK. We came up with these names. Because this special growth form of the Eulychnia is so rare that it has no real trivial names. But look at the plant: aren''t the names appropriate?
Eulychnia castanea spiralis is an absolute rarity! It is extremely rare to find as it grows very slowly
It has a columnar stem made up of tubers that grow in a distinctive swirling spiral. In between grow pointed, long, orange-brown spines, or to put it botanically correctly: thorns.
This unique rarity can grow up to 2 m tall. But don''t worry - the 2m will probably only live to see its heirs, as it takes several decades to grow to this size.
