The brown-red spiny nutsedge, or Acaena microphylla "copper carpet", is a versatile ground cover that is perfect for rockeries or as a blanket of plants. With its decorative, fern-like leaves in brown-red tones and eye-catching spherical fruit clusters, it adds an interesting accent to any garden.
The copper carpet grows low and dense, is easy to care for, robust and absolutely hardy. It thrives in both sunny and semi-shady locations and is ideal for semi-natural gardens. In summer, the fruit clusters glow a prickly red, which adds an extra splash of color.
