A single pitcher of this rare plant can grow up to 35 cm !

This plant produces so called pitchers at the end of its leaves. It even has developed a little lid in order to protect the digestive fluids in the pitchers from getting diluted. With a sweet smell the insects get attracted.
When looking for the sweet nectar, the prey falls into the fluid and can't get back out because of the smooth inner walls. After a while the get disolved and digested, leaving behind only their exoskeletons.

Care
The pitcher plant is a tropical plant. It loves warm and moist surroundings. In order to get many pitchers, they need high humidity. It grows particularly well in glass cases or terrariums on a west or east window. If they grow too big, they can be cut back.

Tip:
Sometimes the plant stops growing pitchers. If that should be the case with your plant, simply break off the growing tip. The strength of the plant ist then rerouted to the tip of the leaves and it will restart making pitchers.

Einfach sprachlos
Ich habe hier schon oft bestellt, bin immer sehr zufrieden, aber diese Pflanze schießt den Vogel ab. Ich habe ein Prachtexemplar erhalten, das deutlich größer und buschiger als die abgebildete ist. Die Kannen sind groß und kräftig gefärbt. Diese Pflanze wurde sehr gut gepflegt, nicht ein winziger Trockenschaden (wie so oft im Baumarkt) ist zu erkennen.

Sehr schöne Pflanzen
Ich habe mir direkt zwei dieser Prachtexemplare bestellt und kann nur sagen, dass Exotenherz wie immer in gewohnt sehr guter Qualität ausgeliefert hat.
Die Pflanzen sehen sehr gut aus, sind gesund und gut verpackt bei mir angekommen.

Einfach faszinierend!
Diese Kannenpflanze ist etwas besonderes. Ich habe schon jede Menge verschiedener Karnivoren gehabt und gezüchtet, aber diese Pflanze fasziniert mich besonders, weil sie ein Prachtexemplar ist. Sie haut ein Blatt nach dem anderen raus , ja sogar einen ganz neuen Trieb und trotzdem entwickelt sie jede Menge Kannen. Ich bin fest entschlossen, mir eine zweite Nepenthes Maxima (heißt übrigens Nepenthes Maxima Miranda) zu kaufen. Liebes Exotenherz - Team, wir werden noch einmal ins Geschäft kommen! Ich kaufe sehr gerne bei euch, weil auch die anderen Pflanzen (Biophytum sensitivum und Mimosa pudica sind wunderschön, von sehr guter Qüalität (sehr gute Pflege) und vor allem immer sicher verpackt, sodass die Pflanzen immer heil ankommen. So macht der Pflanzenkauf Spass!

Erwartungen übertroffen
Eigentlich 3 Pflanzen in einem Topf und mit vielen Kannen, sehr imposant.
Natürlich hat sie durch den Transport etwas gelitten: eine Kanne und ein Blatt waren abgeknickt und einige Kannen und Blätter hatten Löcher. Im Verhältnis zur Größe der Pflanze aber nicht der Rede wert und beim Verpacken wohl kaum zu vermeiden!
